An Evening in Crete – Greek Supper Club Recap

Crete, the southernmost part of Greece, largest island in the Mediterranean and the birthplace of the “Mediterranean Diet”. This past Monday,  we raised a glass (or two) of Cretan wine, said a couple of Matinades and enjoyed a five course authentic Cretan dinner.

This dinner has been long in the making and I am delighted to host the dinner at Christina’s on the Danforth. All the dishes were prepared using Cretan olive oil, furnished by Nisos Importing and the wines will be selected by Kolonaki Group.

Thank you to our servers Amanda and Paula, the staff and management at Christina’s and Chef Vanessa Yeung of Aphrodite Cooks for her help in the kitchen.

Appetizers

Haniotiko Boureki with zucchini, potato, Krinos Feta and phyllo

Cretan Dakos with roasted cherry tomatoes, Cretan olive oil, Greek oregano and Krinos goat milk Feta

Cretan Escargots Stifado with wine vinegar and rosemary on sour trahana

First course – Fassolakia Ladera, fesh herbs, Krinos goat milk Feta, Evlogia Cretan olive oil

Second Course - Gamopilafo – Cretan Wedding rice simmered in lamb and chicken stock with and Krinos sheep milk yogurt

Main – Braised Cretan style Lamb with Fennel and baby Yukon Golds

Dessert – Kserotigana with Graviera cheese, Attiki honey
