Kalofagas Greek Dinner in Ottawa June 18th

The land of olives and honey is finally experiencing its moment in the culinary spotlight. Peter Minaki currently hosts and cooks for the “Kalofagas Greek Supper Club,” monthly casual and intimate gatherings that feature regional Greek food and wines. Peter also teaches Greek cooking classes, caters privately and pops up at venues around Toronto, and tonight in this communal dining format (not a hands-on class) he brings his contemporary Greek flavours straight to us. On the menu:

a trio of Greek appetizers – tomato fritters, beet and ouzo-cured salmon with pickled red onion and fried capers, and chicken lollipops Riganato

salad with crisp halloumi cheese, grapes and 3-citrus maple vinaigrette

three mushroom ragout on a bed of creamy trahana and grated Greek cheese

braised lamb shank with smoked eggplant puree, and fried beet chip garnish

phyllo cigars with bougatsa cream
